Proposed Shelter Design

Tommy McKown Memorial Shelter

We would like to construct this memorial shelter behind the 8th green at the golf course. As there was once a small shelter there years ago, we believe it is an ideal location for this build.

As one of my great and best friends for nearly 50 years, Tommy McKown was killed in a boating accident at the Lake of the Ozarks. Tommy, a state champion placer in 1982, and I grew up playing this course from the time we were 9 years old. We had just played 36 holes together the Friday before the Gregg Willilams tournament.

As many of his family still play here, they came to me with ideas of doing something to remember Tommy by on the golf course. After several days of brainstorming, we thought this would be the most practical for the cause and the course. It could be used very beneficially in all of the tournaments for staff, vendors and on course food and beverage sales. Most importantly, it would serve as a safe haven for golfers when unexpected storms roll in as there is currently no shelter for in-danger players and spectators.

Please consider a donation for the Tommy McKown Memorial Shelter.

Sincerely,
The entire McKown Family
Mike Jarman
